African American Restaurants in New York, NY

New York presents its locals and guests with a wide selection of restaurants, offering ethnic dishes from a variety of African regions. Some of these eateries are open for brunch, lunch and dinner. Many feature a friendly and casual atmosphere, late night dining, live music and catering. Most are open seven days a week.

Each African American restaurant in New York highlights its own distinct menu. Brooklyn has a fair share of family-owned African restaurants, serving anything from traditional Ethiopian dishes to authentic Senegalese cuisine. Clinton Hill and Fort Greene, for instance, offer many options for Moroccan fare. The East Village serves up an adventurous mix of Egyptian, Mediterranean and Middle Eastern cuisine. Chelsea presents its diners with Jamaican and Caribbean menus, and Harlem is the place to go for tasty, comforting soul food.

New York is truly a global city. Almost every facet of the city is diverse. A person can sample entrees from almost every region of Africa in this enormous city. So, for any New Yorker, an African vacation may be impossible, but an authentic African meal is just a cab ride away.
