Traveling is exciting; however, packing can be a chore. When traveling for a long trip, you should try to bring a variety of items, but you should also avoid over-packing. Remember, at some point, you'll have to carry your luggage(s).
First, pack versatile pieces of clothing. This includes shoes you can wear both day and night, and bottoms you can match with several tops. If your trip will involve a lot of walking tours, be sure to pack comfortable shoes. Also, don't forget to bring plenty of underwear and socks.
Next, you will need to pack a variety of toiletries, including a travel toothbrush, tooth paste, soap, lotion, sunscreen, contact solution, and so on. If you wear contacts, be sure to bring your glasses, as well as extra contacts in case of emergencies. Travel size toilet paper is a must when traveling to some third world countries. A spray bottle is also a good thing to pack. By misting and hanging your clothes the day before you wear them, you can actually smooth out wrinkles without having to iron.
